JOYNEXT’s Intelligent Cockpit Enters the Era of “Third Space”

As driving becomes more automated, our behavior modes change with it constantly. Gradually, we get accustomed to use machines to assist driving. So, we could enjoy the travel at ease. This trend not only changes how we perceive driving, but also what we expect from cockpit products, which should evolve to provide the empathic human-machine interactive experience in the third space.

JOYNEXT began dedicated to the cockpit product in 1997. After years of development, we now have established partnerships with global OEMs like Volkswagen, Audi, and BMW and our products have been applied to over 12 million vehicles worldwide.

Technical strength to meet the customized needs of global OEMs

JOYNEXT has witnessed and taken part in the evolution of cockpit products, from the radio to the infotainment system and then the intelligent cockpit. We are always committed to providing car manufacturers with competitive products.

With the 50th anniversary of China-German diplomatic relations, Volkswagen Group China also shares the stories of achievements created with businesses focused on intelligent connected vehicles. CNS3.0 dual-OS systems are one of the milestones achieved by Volkswagen and JOYNEXT together. Due to high-security requirements, VW vehicles elsewhere adopt Linux systems, but it can hardly satisfy the needs of Chinese users for infotainment experience in the cockpit. An innovative solution promising both, security and experience is what VW needs to meet Chinese consumers’ expectations. With strong R&D capabilities globally and extensive experience serving as VW’s supplier in Europe, JOYNEXT was able to develop CNS3.0 dual-OS systems through close collaboration with VW teams located thousands of miles apart. Up to now, the CNS3.0 dual-OS systems (Linux + Android) are applied to nearly 20 VW models.

Create a comprehensive solution based on hardware and enhanced by software

A platform integrating hardware and software is needed for the era of the “Software-Defined Vehicle”. JOYNEXT has mapped out the evolution from " intelligent empathic cabin " to "autonomous empathic cabin" in advance. Specifically, it iterates and upgrades the hardware, moving from the independent cockpit domain controller to domain fusion and then even to the central computing unit. Since launched in 2018, the cockpit domain controller has iterated to its third generation, with mass production based on a large platform on the way. The progress is also supported by our cooperation with OEMs, pushing the cockpit domain to develop into the central computing unit.

The hardware underpins the software, which is crucial to offer a variety of features in the cockpit. JOYNEXT works on both fronts to highlight the technological advantages of intelligent cockpit systems. With years of experience in teamwork, R&D, mass production and globalization, we are committed to helping more OEMs with product development and upgrading.
