VfL Wolfsburg and JOYNEXT Establish Cooperative Partnership

DRESDEN, December 21, 2020 —— VfL Wolfsburg is starting an extensive partnership with Ningbo Joynext Technology Corporation (JOYNEXT), specialists in future technologies in the automotive industry, as the club expands its involvement in the Far East. JOYNEXT operates its global headquarters in Ningbo (China) and European headquarters in Dresden (Germany). Going with more than 1,300 employees, JOYNEXT takes connected cars technology to a new level and now joins the ‘Wolfsburg United’ international project as a Premium Partner.

Among the activities planned with JOYNEXT are training camps with the VfL football schools in China and Wolfsburg, as well as joint social media campaigns in China. Collaboration on CSR projects is also part of the agreement. The company’s logo will be visible around the Volkswagen Arena, for example on the international LED advertising boards and on the international press wall.

“With JOYNEXT we are gaining an exciting partner who is setting standards in digitalization and networking, and like us, always has an eye on the balance between innovation and sustainability,” said VfL managing director Michael Meeske. “We are very excited about this agreement, which allows us to further expand our presence in the important Chinese market.”

JOYNEXT Co-CEO, Mr. Stavros Mitrakis, said: “We are really looking forward to our partnership with VfL Wolfsburg, a club that is always striving for improvement and which goes beyond its business in a determined way, both nationally and internationally. This perfectly matches the core values of our company - Entrepreneurship, Passion, Trust, Courage, Integrity and Sustainability.”

About VfL Wolfsburg

The Wolves have been playing in the German Bundesliga since 1997. In 2009, VfL became German champions and won the 72nd DFB Cup final on May 30, 2015, defeating Borussia Dortmund 3-1. It was the first DFB Cup victory for the Green-Whites. On August 1, 2015, they also won the DFL Supercup against FC Bayern Munich. However, the Wolves also had to go through relegation two years in a row. In the 2016/2017 season, they sat out against Eintracht Braunschweig. In the following 2017/2018 season, VfL saved themselves in the relegation against Holstein Kiel and then qualified for international competition again two years in a row. In the current season, the Lower Saxons missed out on the UEFA Europa League finals - but finished the 2020 soccer year in fourth place.
