JOYNEXT presents key technologies for automated driving at AutoSens 2025 in Barcelona
- Automotive electronics specialist showcases new nDrive 1H domain controller and nCCU2 central computing unit
- nDrive 1H provides the basis for automated driving functions with high AI computing power and enables reliable processing of complex sensor data in real time
- nCCU2 combines driving and cockpit functions in a central system, responding to the industry trend toward software-defined vehicles with fewer control units, less complexity, and flexible update capabilities
Dresden. JOYNEXT, a specialist in automotive electronics and innovative control units, will present its latest solutions for automated driving and central vehicle architectures at AutoSens in Barcelona from October 7 to 9, 2025. AutoSens is considered one of the leading international platforms for sensor technologies and driver assistance systems, bringing together decision-makers, developers, and scientists who are shaping the future of automated driving.
The presentation will focus on two products: the nDrive 1H domain controller and the nCCU2 central computing unit. Both products mark the next step in the development of connected and software-defined vehicles. The systems exemplify the technological transformation of the industry and illustrate how JOYNEXT is addressing key challenges facing the automotive industry.
nDrive 1H – Computing power and security for automated driving
The nDrive 1H is one of the first domain controllers worldwide based on Qualcomm's second-generation Snapdragon Ride platform. With a computing power of 200 trillion AI operations per second, it sets a new benchmark for real-time sensor data processing. Two parallel chips and an additional security module ensure that the system continues to operate reliably even in the event of a failure. Compliance with the automotive industry's highest safety standards ensures maximum operational reliability.
The new JOYNEXT domain controller processes data from cameras, radar, and ultrasound in real time, forming the basis for functions such as automated parking, highway driving, and semi-automated assistance systems. Its flexible architecture enables use in a variety of vehicle classes, from volume models to premium vehicles.
nCCU2 – central processing unit for software-defined vehicles
While nDrive 1H specializes in real-time processing of driving data, nCCU2 represents the next level of integration. The central processing unit combines cockpit and driving functions on a single system-on-chip. This architecture reduces the number of control units, simplifies variant diversity, and creates a uniform basis for software and safety. The nCCU2 flexibly allocates its computing power, forming the basis for software-defined vehicles. It enables semi-automated driving functions such as lane departure warning, highway navigation, and automated parking. At the same time, it provides a modern cockpit with AI-supported voice control, intelligent assistance functions, high-quality sound, and control of up to eight displays.
JOYNEXT products address current trends and developments
The automotive industry is increasingly moving toward centralized and zonal E/E architectures. The goal is to replace the multitude of individual control units with a few powerful computers that ensure security, updates, and flexible software functions. At the same time, the importance of cybersecurity, functional safety, and a consistent software lifecycle is growing. In addition, it is becoming apparent that previously separate domains such as the cockpit and driving functions are increasingly merging. At the same time, the increasing number of sensors is driving up the demand for high computing power and intelligent data fusion. This development reduces complexity and costs and opens up new degrees of freedom for software and over-the-air updates.
JOYNEXT's new systems pick up on the key trends in the industry and translate them into concrete advantages. The nCCU2 combines driving and cockpit functions in a central unit. OEMs benefit from fewer control units, less variant diversity, and shorter development times. With its high AI computing power, the nDrive 1H ensures that complex sensor data is processed reliably and that automated driving functions such as lane keeping, highway driving, and parking can be implemented in series production. For manufacturers, this means faster industrialization and lower costs; for drivers, it means greater safety and a seamless digital experience. Together, both systems form the basis for software-defined vehicles that are technologically future-proof, economically viable, and convincing in everyday use. "We understand the technological and regulatory developments that are driving the automotive industry today," explains Noby Mathew, Director of Products and Strategy at JOYNEXT GmbH. "Our products address these challenges and translate them into solutions that help our customers industrialize faster, more securely, and more efficiently. AutoSens gives us the space to discuss this with partners and shape the next steps together," Noby Mathew continues.
